Stutter Navigator does not guarantee the treatment nor competence of these programs.  We are giving you this list to help in creating a path to possible summer programs that might be able to assist you in treating stuttering.

Camp Shout Out is a one-of-a-kind program located within a typical, overnight summer camp environment.  For over a decade, CSO has gathered youth who stutter ages 8-18, board-certified fluency specialists, speech-language pathologists, graduate students, camp staff, and volunteers for approximately one week to grow as communicators. Guided activities are designed to encourage each participant to grow as a communicator through engagement in positive, motivating, and fun communication experience. There is also an intensive clinical training program for accepted speech-language pathologists and graduate students. An optional Leadership-in-Training program is offered for high school campers. The Treatment and Training Program at Camp Shout Out is directed by Kristin Chmela and includes additional fluency specialists who serve as faculty. San Jose State University Summer Camp for Children Who Stutter

Sioris Family University of Minnesota Kids Who Stutter Camp

The Davis Center in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, announces its annual summer program for children who stutter immediately following Metro area schools have completed their calendar year. We offer affordable programs for two age groups. In the morning we offer a half-day program for children who are entering 4th to 6th grades in the fall. In the afternoons of the same week, we offer a half-day program for children who are entering 7th to 9th grades in the fall. The size of the groups is limited to 10 children each, so early registration is highly encouraged. The majority of this program will involve group activities focusing on the social, emotional and attitudinal aspects of stuttering. Participants will need to be able to understand topics of discussion with like-aged peers.  There is a small fee for materials to participate. Scholarships will be available based on need. The Davis Center does not provide transportation to and from camp.

Camp Iceberg

​

The MU Speech and Hearing Clinic is excited to announce its Summer Camp 2022 offerings. This year, three different camps will take place throughout July and will serve second graders through teens with varied programming. All camps will feature small and large group activities along with individualized instruction. Camp Connect is an intensive week of making connections for teens and tweens, July 11-15, 2022. Camp Iceberg is a week-long day camp (3 hours/day, 7/18-7/22/22) at MU Lewis Hall for children in grades 2 through middle school. The camp is designed to help children who stutter learn more about stuttering and understand how to thrive as a person who stutters. The third offering is Camp Code Breakers for ages 8-10 and the date is July 18-22, 2022. Camp More: A Camp for Kids and Teens Who Stutter

 

Camp More is a place for kids, ages 8-18, to come as they are and do more. Build more friendships and community, gain more confidence and community skills, and be more empowered all while being in a safe, supportive and fun environment with other kids and teens who stutter.

Camp More 2022 will be a one day event, One MORE day.

This camp will provide young people who stutter with a supportive environment where they can develop their own goals about speaking and stuttering. Therapeutic activities will help participants learn about the phenomenon of stuttering; develop their own plan for practice; develop strategies to manage the social and emotional challenges; and learn how to communicate to their parents about stuttering. Campers participate in group and individual activities designed to assist them in achieving personal communication goals.

Camp TALKS - Summer Day Camp for Children and Teens Who Stutter
 

Camp T.A.L.K.S: Talking And Learning with Kids who Stutter
First full week of June 2022 at Vanderbilt University
Purpose: Helping children and teens who stutter (8 - 16) and their families It is an opportunity to meet and interact in an environment that is accepting, supportive, positive, and fun.

Camp TALKS mission is to empower children and teens who stutter to become confident communicators by developing understanding ad acceptance of their stuttering, in a supportive, interactive, and enjoyable Summer Camp venue, with parental involvement.

Cost of the camp is $500 for the week. Scholarships are available!

Camp Dream. Speak. Live.

​

Translating theory to practice is core to the mission of The University of Texas at Austin's Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research and is emphasized across the wide variety of evidence-based programs offered. Camp Dream. Speak. Live., is evidence-based, intensive, therapy program, for children who stutter that has been proven to achieve the following for children who stutter:  (1) increase their positive perception of their ability to establish peer to peer relationships, (2) increase their communication competence and improve how they feel about their ability to communicate, (3) enhance their leadership skills, (4) lessen the influence of stuttering on their overall quality of life. The protocol for Camp Dream. Speak. Live. Has been annualized, and the positive results have been replicated worldwide.
Camp 2022 will be June 13th – June 17th. deadline to be added to the interest list is March 6th

Comprehensive Stuttering Therapy Program

​

Texas State University's Department of Communication Disorders offers the Comprehensive Stuttering Therapy Program is an intensive clinical a program designed for adolescents and adults who stutter (14 years and older).

Summer 2022, the CSTP will be as a 2-week online intensive program in July 2022. This summer the program will run from Monday July 11th through Friday July 22nd; 10:30 AM to 12PM(group sessions) & 1PM-4 PM (individual sessions).
Cost: The fee for CSTP is $250*. Please inquire with the Speech-Language-Hearing clinic

Univ. of Utah Intensive Stuttering Clinic for Adults and Adolescents

 

Intensive stuttering clinic for adults and adolescents (ages 15 and older). Stuttering is a multidimensional disorder that demands a multidimensional treatment approach. At its core, stuttering is a disorder of speech motor control. But the disorder of stuttering is more than just the stuttering; it also involves a lifetime of dealing with the anxiety and avoidances caused by the stuttering. Utilizing a variety of biofeedback instruments combined with group support therapies, the clinic targets improved fluency with stuttering and anxiety management.

The clinic takes place on the beautiful University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City. The next clinic is July 25 - Aug 5, 2022 and runs weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and includes approximately 65 hours of treatment. The clinic fee is $1,500.

Wasatch Stuttering Management Program

​

The nonprofit Wasatch Stuttering Management Program for children ages 8-16 will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 through Saturday, August 6, 2022.
A summer day camp format involving outings, interactions with peers in social settings, and individual and group therapy. Scholarships are available to those demonstrating financial need.

Camp Say: A Summer Camp for Young People Who Stutter.

Camp Say is an American Camp Association(ACA) – Accredited. 2 week, sleep-away summer camp for young people who stutter, ages 8-18. Camp SAY combines a high-quality, traditional camp experience with specialized programs and activities that help kids and teens who stutter develop confidence and independence, improve communication skills, and form important lifelong friendships.

Dates: Sunday, July 24 – Sunday, August 7, 2022

Located at Camp Eagle Hill in upstate New Y`ork

Successful Stuttering Management Program

Eastern Washington University is offering options:A five day intensive therapy program focusing on Phase 1 of the successful Stuttering Management Program (avoidance reduction, acceptance and desensitization). A cure is not advocated in this program, but rather, the SSMP it is designed to show the stutterer how to manage their stuttering, eliminate word and situational fears, and greatly improve attitudes and self-image.

A three-day therapy program focusing on Phase 2 of the Successful Shuttering Management Program (Modification of stuttering in real life situations).  This is a refresher course. You may participate in Phase 1, or Phase 2.

Interprofessional Clinic at Perley Rideau in Canada

Express Yourself! Youth Stuttering Camp
We are excited to offer this opportunity again to children of the National Capital region, and surrounding areas, following positive feedback from both parents and attendees from the previous years. The Express Yourself! Teen camp is based on a program offered at the University of Iowa’s Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic. The general idea is to provide an opportunity for children who stutter to meet, share experiences, and support each other, while challenging them to go outside their comfort zone and gain confidence in using speech skills or stuttering easily. We have several special activities, initiatives, and guest speakers planned.

Ages: Proposed for students in grades 5-8; high school students are welcome to apply. Contact the clinic for other treatment options for this age group.

ISTAR Stuttering Treatment
 

ISTAR offers 3-week intensive clinics (6 hrs per day) for adults in June and for teens (ages 11-18) in July. There is also a two-week teens/adults clinic offered in our Calgary office in August.
A 2-week individual intensive clinic (amount of time per day varies depending on the client) followed by a 4-day group camp for children (ages 7-11) and their families is offered in July in Calgary and August in Edmonton. There are extended therapy programs available throughout the year for preschool children and others for whom intensive clinics are not suitable. Refresher clinics for individuals or small group maintenance sessions are scheduled throughout the year. Funding options are available.

The Speech and Stuttering Institute

The Speech and Stuttering Institute offers 3-week intensive summer therapy programs for adults/teens (ages 1-adult) and school-age children (ages 10-14). This year these programs will be offered online.

Camp Words Unspoken, founded in 2019, is a program for children who stutter. We offer our one-week overnight summer camp and year-round programs, to empower campers with the necessary skills to move forward with their lives.
